Seeing Clearly: Envision Peace to Draw more PEACE into your Life

My friend Charlie is remodeling his house. It was a HUD house to begin with and he won the house on an open bid. It seems everything needs doing in the house which stands on a short, quiet street, across from a wooded lot, adjacent to the golf course in a small town north of Boston. At 900 square feet, the house is like a Victorian doll house; the original owner built it himself like a cabin and subsequent owners added the architectural touches. Presently the basement floods; the garage walls are collapsing and squirrels run in and out at will. The deck is caving in; the front porch is drooping. Much of the place, as sweet as it is, needs repair, practically everywhere you look. Once a friend of Charlie’s stopped over and wondered aloud ‘who could live like this?’ But Charlie sees the beauty in everything and where ordinary folks might see clutter and chaos, he sees a blooming rose, an artistic seawall. He doesn’t notice faults, but instead sees attributes.

I forgive myself for judging myself for seeing what’s wrong rather then what’s right. I forgive myself for believing that I won’t take action steps toward my vision if I only see what’s right. I forgive myself for judging that anything is right or wrong. Instead, I hold ‘what is’ patiently and with compassionate acceptance. I take action toward what will bring me closer to my ideal without judging what is present.

Contemplation:

Center yourself within yourself and evoke your higher Self. In your mind’s eye bring forward something in your life that you would prefer different. It may be your home, your relationship, your family, your health, your fortune, your career—see what you see just as it is. Notice how it works in your life; notice how it affects your peace; see yourself in your scene and see how you react to ‘what is.’ Just watch yourself from your Higher Self with as much compassion and loving understanding as you can muster. Forgive yourself any judgments that may arise. Then, as you breathe in and breathe out calmly, ask your Higher Self simply, “What is the next step that I need to take within myself to bring myself more in alignment with my ideal preference?” Wait, watch and listen to whatever unfolds, just breathing in and out calmly, accepting ‘what is’ peacefully. When you are ready, return. You may wish to record what you perceive.

Exercise

Take up paper and drawing tools. Create a scene that represents your vision for life. Incorporate in your drawing all that is your ideal in home, health, family, friends, intimate relationship, vocation and spiritual life. Forgive yourself any judgments that may arise about your drawing and reassure this ‘inner critic’ that your scene is simply representative of your ideals. If drawing isn’t your medium, make a collage, write a story or in another way create something that is representative of your ideal life. Place your creation in a prominent place and as you pass it daily, remind yourself that this vision is already present and you accept it.

What's Without is What's Within: a Powerful Way of Using 'What's So' for our Growth and Upliftment

At the heart of citizens' full self expression–an essential ingredient of democratic society–there is also a corresponding requirement of responsibility. At it’s highest level, this responsibility calls us each to deeper and deeper levels of love and compassion as what we see is akin to who we ourselves are. The noted psychologist, RD Laing said it best, "all is projection."

Whether this is true or not is less relevant then the empowering choice such a concept gives us. I have found in my own life that much of what I criticize externally is simply a reflection of my inner critic, whom I daily learn to love. Typically this inner critic is the voice I’d rather ignore or loathe. Mostly, however, that critic voice has a deeper intention such as safeguarding us or otherwise guiding us, even if it’s processes can seem childlike or destructive as in sabotaging our best intentions.

In such cases, we can use our relationship with our inner critic to ‘reframe’ its intention and behavior toward something closer to our higher good and the higher good of all those involved. In our life experiences, we demonstrate a ‘reframe’ to our reality as we continually take steps toward our heartfelt dreams and aspirations. Of course, this can seem discouraging when our best efforts and dearest truths are seemingly thwarted. But we can demonstrate resolve to pick ourselves up and take the next step--and the next–behavior which supports our goal achievement over time as we continue to course correct.

In the case of our experience with others with whom we seem to disagree, we have a similar choice. If we can accept, even temporarily, that this ‘energy field ‘ is there to teach us something about ourselves, then immediately the source of our frustration begins to transform toward something more useful. Have you ever noticed how our greatest teachers are often those with whom we have the most troubled relations? One might say they are the ‘Angel Ones’ drawing us into opportunity for deeper understanding, love and compassion.

Democratic society requires free speech. It also requires its citizens to act responsibly toward other citizens and to do no harm. Liberty and freedom depend upon these two tenets. Therefore, responsible behavior toward those who harm others calls for particular discerning. The I-Ching, Book of Change, a Chinese wisdom book, directs us to still our minds and hearts and only from this space of neutrality, speak and act, so as to prevent further harm. A free press, and media, has a similar requirement.

Fortunately, the power of attraction is so great that as we, like responsible citizens, focus our attention upon our highest good, we expand that energy. I celebrate our voices and the voices of all other responsible, global citizens who come forward in truth and vision with a deep commitment to society and all its citizens. We are one human being great.

Achieving your Dream, One step at a time

Next steps can often appear overwhelming. It’s as if we are ‘here’ and the goal is somewhere ‘out there,’ either never to be realized or only a hoped for miracle. This then allows us depression, upset, and often anger at ourselves and those alleged others who somehow ‘prevent’ us from achieving our heartfelt goals and aspirations. Blaming, a self fulfilling prophecy, a further opportunity for self loathing, is truly an energy drain, often further inhibiting us from fulfilling our dreams.

Imagine the possibility of achieving your dream life, and even more fun, enjoying every step along the way. Indeed, with a simple change in consciousness, you are already in the life you have created, up until now. Whew! That can be a hard one to swallow. But whether true or not, the idea of taking 100% responsibility for our own lives opens a possibility for changing our lives to more closely align with our ideal.

That’s where the next step comes in. Let’s say for now we clarify our ideal. See it in all its multifaceted self: health, home, friends, family, intimate relationship, career, spiritual life–see yourself being the one you know you truly are, living at the peak experience of your true being.

Now, let’s complete a mini-gap analysis. How does your life look in comparison to your ideal? Note where you may seem to ‘fall short’ of your ideal. Of course, forgive yourself for buying into the idea that you or anything in your life is less then perfect already.

Continually anchor your ideal in your mind’s eye and call yourself back to it whenever fear or doubt may arise.

Next, choose one aspect of your life, that if this more closely aligned with your ideal, the rest of your life would seem to fall into place. Give yourself permission to accept what your deeper heart’s desires are calling to you. Allow yourself to answer to your deeper dreams. You deserve this. You are worthy of your dream.

Now, while giving yourself permission to actualize your true heart’s dream, imagine just one step you can take that will bring you closer to realizing your dream. This can be as simple a step as clearing a bedroom drawer to make room for a new relationship. Once complete, simply go within and inquire about the next simple step and then the next. Each step taken and completed uncovers another–all leading to the realization of your deeper aspirations and heartfelt dreams.

Building Life from the Inside Out is simple and joyous, magically powerful and true.

Here’s the goal for this moment: No agenda talk—no goal—no outcome talk—just BEING in touch with innermost self guidance and safely sharing that voice with another; a luxury in modern life it seems for many of us.

Efficiency, effectiveness, profits, results, “big change fast” has taken its toll on American workers in nearly every industry, often at the expense of health and longevity. Very archetypal male energy –Yang—seems out of balance with very archetypal female energy—Yin.

When Yin and Yang are in balance there is what colleague Nance Guilmartin (http://www.nancequilmartin.com/) refers to as the creative ‘pause,’ an experience where we pause long enough to hear our deeper meanings and heartfelt wisdom and love—the stuff our souls yearn to accept. Imagine how much more effective we are as we allow our ‘pause’ to inform us.

DOING, GOING—tasks at the expense of BEING can lead to a loss of true self, the Heart of the Atman, the center of work under tutelage with Dr. William Tweed Kennedy, PhD, I-Corp, Inc, Massachusetts. Human Being is a way of Life that keeps us Present in the moment—only NOW exists in Time. The past is gone; we remember it NOW, informed with our understanding and Presence NOW. We can actually change histories as many cultures and conquerors would attest, simply by the consciousness we bring to that history NOW. Likewise, our future, some pre-invented state, is visionary, healing and constructive in accordance with our choices NOW. Time is a human construct, despite all appearance.

No agenda talk—no goal—no outcome talk is what friends share together over late night coffee, at kitchen tables, in shops—this is the Human Being present with what’s so NOW. There, in that sacred space, something of grace and beauty exists—even in the most sordid conditions. There in the Human Being Now is where hope and vision resides, where we contact our YANG and our YING and become WHOLE ONES NOW, without separation.

This is the soul’s talk of peace and love and presence from which all creation springs.

I invite you to give yourself the gift of No Agenda Talk—no goal—no outcome—just BEING NOW ONE and allow the Love that resides in your innermost self to guide you toward your next DOING and the next and the next. Imagine the efficient and effective outcomes that manifest as we surrender to our higher selves and allow that wisdom to guide our creative actions. We are so grateful.

Sincerely,

CREATE more PEACE in the world right now!

Sometimes we hear the world news or just look around in our neighborhoods and families and see what seems like 'precious little PEACE.' I know a 12 year who responded when asked what he was seeing more clearly these days, that he sees only "guns and death." If this is your experience or that of those you love, I invite you to create more PEACE right now.

Your thoughts and ideas, your mental visions and emotional feelings, create a vibration that can change the world right now. We are far more powerful for GOOD then we imagine.

We can experiment with this idea immediately and see how it works. Four simple steps:

First, I invite you to breathe! That's right, just breathe, 3 deep breaths, inhale and exhale. With each breath, breathe in all that seems to trouble you and breath out healing light. Three times, breath in and breath out healing light. With each exhale, expand the healing light you send out into your world.

Next, affirm what you are grateful for seeing: the light, love, a flower---whatever you can see that is good in your life, affirm and express your gratitude for these gifts.

Third, imagine in your mind's eye, all that you would prefer to see as PEACE in your world, right now. Hold that vision and simply bring yourself back to it whenever doubt or fear arises. throughout your day.

Finally, name three small steps you commit to take toward creating your vision for PEACE right now. Set a day and time when each step will be completed. Then affirm your actions and simply take the next step.

Remember, PEACE is that quality of inner love and light that radiates so powerfully in the world around you that all who come across your path are called to PEACE themselves.

It is easy to destroy. The real master, as the Taoist master reminds us, is the one who builds and restores all to its highest, constructive expression.

I invite you to join me in creating PEACE in our world right now. Please forward this to others you cherish throughout the world and let's begin now creating PEACE in our world--step by step together.

Sincerely,
